Creating During COVID

This has been a difficult time for artist. Being in the midst of a global pandemic, limited on how to reach those that you have been accustomed to reaching. What does one do during this time? If you are an actor, how can you survive creatively knowing that theaters can't open their doors until after this is over? How does one audition during this time? How does one stay motivated to write and paint when there is so much uncertainty all around? These are valid concerns, and I am here to encourage you.

"I believe this is the perfect time to be an artist, especially a prophetic one."

For so long we have gotten use to the hustle and bustle of our professions, not slowing down to enjoy the communion with Christ. How long have we road on the applause of the people? The signing of autographs after the show? The praises of waiting fans? When was the last time you were fulfilled and satisfied with an audience of One?

During this global pandemic, artist have the opportunity to refocus on what's most important; the approval of Christ. I personally enjoy creating for Him. I've settled into the idea that whether someone is there or not, it's always for Him. As I have been sheltering place for the past 7-8 months, I've had time to prepare for a new world. I've been able to shift from theater to helping clients get published. I've been able to get scripts ready for television shows. I understand that this pandemic is temporary.

Here are a few tips to get your minds back on track when it comes to creating during COVID.

  1. Understand that your gifts are for service. When you keep this at the forefront of your mind, you will be able to allow Christ to lift you.

  2. Understand that you do not need an audience to create or feel productive. Being obedient to the assignment is what Christ looks for.

  3. Use this time to allow Christ to stretch you in your area of creativity. Learn a new way to do what you have been doing.

  4. Consider teaching others the things you have perfected.

  5. Understand that this pandemic is temporary. Continue to create and allow Holy Spirit to pour into you. This is a time during COVID to prepare for the greater.

  6. Be ready.
