Know When to Say "No"

"As prophetic scribes, we have to guard the gifts that have been given to us by God at all cost."

We must know when to say "no". Granted, some of us are called to the market place and will often be the light in a dark place, however, know when the project is not conducive for the call. I was resently part of a new television project that started filming. When it was in development, I had a huge hand in the day to day. As the project got closer, more people began to join what was a two person team. Over a short period of time, the original idea began to change, and the end result was me, pulling out of the entire project and cutting ties and affiliation with all involved. Although I had every right to be there, I decided to protect and guard the gift instead. No need for daily disagreements and trying to convince people to be professional. I simply decided to remove myself, and the gifts that come with me, out of the equation.

There are no regrets, in fact, I have peace about the entire situation, freed up a large amount of time now that I am not involved, and am solidified in my "no". Be encouraged when you're faced with having to say "no". Here are a few tips on what to look out for when preparing to say "no".

  1. Your voice is no longer valued

  2. Being apart of the project would require you to be in constant state of vexation

  3. Your witness called into question

  4. Accusations against you

  5. Communication failure with team

  6. Being kept in the dark about decisions that you once were apart of

  7. No motivation to help anymore

If you experience the above, you may want to consider saying "no" to the project and moving on to the next. Remember, no one owns your gift. It belongs to The Lord.
