A Lifestyle of Fasting: by Prophetess L.A.

Good day Kingdom Citizens,

I wanted to take the time to encourage the Kingdom Citizens out there to continue a lifestyle of fasting and prayer. Life sometimes can throw curveballs and the natural things to do is panic and forget that we have access to the Kingdom of God and the grace to overcome adversities through our relationship with Jesus Christ, God the Father and Holy Spirit. Fasting and prayer are so important to the believer because it gives us the supernatural power to confront and deal with everyday life. Fasting also gives us the power to be victorious over obstacles that may try to hinder us in our everyday walk. Fasting is a spiritual act that shows God that we are serious about our walk with Him. Fasting and prayer shows God we are serious about living Holy and upright before Him. Serious about having power over all powers of the enemy. Serious about having dominion over ourselves and this earth. Fasting also allows us to reset in our lives. Break bad habits such as bad eating habits and lack of exercise. Fasting gives us a more sensitive spiritual ear to what God is saying to us. Fasting clears and cleans out our sometimes cluttered and backed up spirits. Fasting allows our natural bodies rest from all the bad foods that have been consumed. Fasting also resets our taste buds so that we can start again the right way. Fasting helps to heal our bodies from sickness and diseases. Fasting regulates our chemistry. Fasting helps with mental blockage.

When we fast, we are able to get quiet before the Lord to simply listen. We are able to spend time with God during those times when we would have been preparing meals and eating. When we fast, we can finish projects that God has put on our hearts that will enhance the Kingdom. When we fast and pray, we are able to receive anointing and be carriers of God's Glory. We are able to get answers to questions and direction. We have the authority and power to cast out demons. When we fast, we then are qualified to go to greater heights in God. Fasting brings us closer to the Father. Be of good cheer, although fasting is difficult to the flesh, and you want to eat. Know the reward to resist the flesh and temptation of eating far out weighs the little pings in your stomach from being hungry. Below are a few scriptures to read aloud on fasting. God bless and keep your eyes focused on Jesus. You can do it.

(Fasting without salvation is a diet and does nothing for your spiritual growth. There is no growth without first excepting Jesus Christ into your heart as your personal Savior.)

1. Leaders must fast in order to get instructions on whom to promote and set in leadership positions in the church and in ministry. Just because someone has been around and have seemingly served, doesn't mean they are God's choice for the position. Know them that labor among you.

Acts 14:23

When they had appointed elders for them in every church, having prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

2. There is order in the spirit realm. There are ranks in the spirit realm, for angels and the demonic. There are princes and kings and principalities that only respond and flee when those whom have the anointing and spiritual authority to cast them out. These believers are prayed up and have fasted.

Mark 9:29

And He said to them, "This kind cannot come out by anything but fasting and prayer."

3. Married couples must get permission from spouse to go on fast. When one spouse is saved and the other may not be saved, use wisdom so that the enemy doesn't have a door to come in. Try fasting sweets, or social media, or meat. God will honor this type of fast as well. He will never sacrifice a marriage or family for ministry.

1 Corinthians 7:3-5

The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

4. When we fast, we hear clearly from God and what our purpose and positions are in the Kingdom of God.

Acts 13:2

While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."

5. Fasting is a time to refocus on the Lord, and put all other distractions aside.

Daniel 9:3

So I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes

6. Fasting and prayer allows you to stand in the gap for loved ones and those whom you may be interceding for their salvation, deliverance, healing and Kingdom wholeness.

Nehemiah 9:1-3

Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the sons of Israel assembled with fasting, in sackcloth and with dirt upon them. The descendants of Israel separated themselves from all foreigners, and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. While they stood in their place, they read from the book of the law of the LORD their God for a fourth of the day; and for another fourth they confessed and worshiped the LORD their God.

7. Fasting is a private, personal thing between you and God, and those whom may be in the same household as you. It is not to be seen outwardly so as to look more spiritual and more "saved" before people. When you announce your time of fasting to everyone, you are looking for praise and adoration from people and therefore, your intent is realized and therefore voided.

Matthew 6:16-18

"Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. "But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

8. Fasting is the best way to deal with pride issues and feelings of arrogance. Fasting humbles the believer and allows the realization of we can do nothing without God to manifest. When God is blessing and the ministry is growing and people are giving accolades and praising the work that we do for the Lord, fast. This shuts all doors of the enemy to come in with a spirit of pride and importance.

Psalm 35:13

But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fasting, And my prayer kept returning to my bosom.

Be blessed and encouraged. Fasting and prayer isn't something that Kingdom Citizens do, its something we are.
