The House That God Built
The House that God Built 7-28-19
Today we will be talking about the House that God built. We as Believers want to get to a place in God where everything that we are, everything that we do and everything that we are continually becoming is from the foundation of allowing Jesus Christ to build that which He has designed us to be. I want to be in a continuous place of being built into the image and likeness of Christ. I want to surrender my thoughts, my soul, my body, the whole essence of who I am to Him, so He can build me up into who He sees me to be. I want to be the House that God built, because if I am who He has built me up to be, nothing or no one can ever tear me down.
How many of God’s people have allowed themselves to be placed in the hands of those who want to build on faulty foundations of things that God never intended. How many of you have allowed your own false perceptions of who you see yourself as, to mold you? If you see yourself as not good enough, that is the house that is being built. If you see yourself as having low self-esteem, or comparing yourself to others, or never overcoming issues, or never breaking free from bad habits, or thinking ungodly thoughts, this is the house that you are building.
How are we to allow God to build our houses?
Proverbs 24:3 By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
WISDOM, n. s as z. G. See Wise. According to the KJV definition.
1. The right use or exercise of knowledge; the choice of laudable ends, and of the best means to accomplish them. This is wisdom in act, effect, or practice. If wisdom is to be considered as a faculty of the mind, it is the faculty of discerning or judging what is most just, proper and useful, and if it is to be considered as an acquirement, it is the knowledge and use of what is best, most just, most proper, most conducive to prosperity or happiness. Wisdom in the first sense, or practical wisdom, is nearly synonymous with discretion. I differs somewhat from prudence, in this respect; prudence is the exercise of sound judgment in avoiding evils; wisdom is the exercise of sound judgment either in avoiding evils or attempting good. Prudence then is a species, of which wisdom is the genus.
So we want to pray for wisdom in our daily lives so the foundation of our salvation is laid. And the we build on the foundation of wisdom by gaining the knowledge of who God is. And then by knowledge the rooms in our soul are filled with pleasant and precious riches. And if you don’t think your soul has rooms, think of someone with a fractured mind. Think of someone with a broken spirit.
1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building.
When we allow God to build us into His image, we become His fellow workers.
Matthew 7:24-27
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
God makes provision for us to be built up in Him by His word, but when we don’t follow His instructions and try to do it on our own, it’s like we are building on sand. And when sand gets too wet, not only does to fall but it can begin to suck you down in it. You want to be built on The Rock which is Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 28:16
Therefore thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am the one who has laid as a foundation in Zion, a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation…
Ephesians 2:20-22
Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
The house that God built has to be a dwelling place for the Spirit of God. The church is built on the foundation of the Apostle and Prophet. Of the 5 ministry seals, the teacher, the evangelist and the pastor, the foundation is laid by the APOSTLE AND Prophet. When God is building you up, A Prophet or Apostle should always be involved. You may have a pastor over the ministry you attend, and that’s oj=kay as long as that pastor is accountable to a Prophet or Apostle.
Luke 6:48
He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.
The trial will come, the storms will blow but when we are fortified on a sure foundation and built by God, the bible says when the stream broke against that house, it could not shake it because it was well built.
1 Corinthians 3:11
For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
When we allow God to build our house, no one else can come behind Him and rebuilt. There is nothing more strong, than that which Jesus has already laid down.
2 Corinthians 5:1
For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Compared to heaven, any home we have on earth is like a tent. So know that even if you lose it, are forced to down grade it, don’t have it, it’s all temporary. There is a house that God has built, not made with human hands so it can’t be taken away.
1 Peter 2:4-5
As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
We must get to the place of know who we are. So when people reject us, it has no affect because we know, that in the sight of God, we are chosen and precious. We are his handy work.
1 Corinthians 3:10-11
According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Matthew 16:18
And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
When we are built by God, built of Christ which is our chief corner stone, when the attacks come, when we are charged against, the gates of hell shall not prevail. Sometimes attacks are an indication that we need to built up in Him. Some houses have been built with sand. Looks good when molded and shaped in all kinds of manner, but one swift kick and the sand castles come tumbling down.
2 Timothy 2:19
But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”
When we become the house that God built, we bare the seal. The stamp of approval if you will. This seal allows every foe that would try to come against us know that we belong to God and this foundation can not be moved, so you might as well keep on moving. We have back up.
While we have the opportunity to live on this earth, we want to be the house that God built. Our body’s are the temple of God, His dwelling place. Built of the foundation of Christ which is fortified and unmovable, unshakeable, impenetrable. When we are the house that God built, we can withstand the storms and the rains. The trial and challenges that life will bring. When we are the house that God built we can stand in the face of adversity and demonic attacks and come out on the other side. There may be some scrapes along the way, but the word, prayer and godly council can buff those places out. You don’t want to built on anything else. Like the song says, on Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. We need to be the house that God built. Not the house that hurt built, not the house that pride built, not the house that bad decisions built, not the house that lust built, not the house that rebellion built, not the house that negative words built, not the house that lies built, but the HOUSE THAT GOD BUILT! Everyone under the sound of my voice repeat after me, Lord make me the house that you have built, a dwelling place for your Spirit! Anything not built by you, tear it down!
In closing, I leave you with this scripture. The scripture that ties everything together, the scripture that is the mortar in-between every brick laid down by God.
Colossians 3:14
And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
